Hyvä Naistenpäivä! (Happy Mother's Day)

Today is Finnish Mother's Day. I didn't even know this until I went to the gym this morning and the woman working there said "Hyvä Naistenpäivä" to me. Sometimes I miss good old American commercialism. It lets me know what holidays and events are coming up. But the only advertisement I saw for it was at the donut shop. I don't think this day is as big a deal here in Finland. It's more about just being nice to your mom and being friendly to people.
This is also really annoying because I can't find anything that says Finland on it. In America, you can go to literally every store and find something patriotic. But here they only have Finland stuff if they are in the hockey finals. Because that's a big deal. All I want is some stickers, but it has turned into this huge quest.

My First Fondue

Sorry I haven't posted in a while. Been super lazy lately, but some extreme parental nagging has me determined to be more responsible with this. I have been asleep for the past two days due to illness, so sorry for any incoherent-ness.
So anyways, on Saturday I experienced my first fondue party. And it was absolutely glorious. My host parents have this little grill/melter that sits on the table, so it was really easy to do. I actually took pictures, so when I get home I will add those. The top part was a grill, so we were able to cook all our vegetables and meats before putting them in little cheese melter trays below. Each person had their own melter, which was excellent because there were seven of us at dinner. There were so many random vegetables, and then chicken, shrimp and steak. We also had a bunch of different cheeses, but I don't know any of the names in English. And there was also this really wonderful bread. I love bread. And there was some red wine, so all in all, I felt quite fancy as I gorged on cheese. Afterwards, I fell into a food coma.
