Hyvä Naistenpäivä! (Happy Mother's Day)

Today is Finnish Mother's Day. I didn't even know this until I went to the gym this morning and the woman working there said "Hyvä Naistenpäivä" to me. Sometimes I miss good old American commercialism. It lets me know what holidays and events are coming up. But the only advertisement I saw for it was at the donut shop. I don't think this day is as big a deal here in Finland. It's more about just being nice to your mom and being friendly to people.
This is also really annoying because I can't find anything that says Finland on it. In America, you can go to literally every store and find something patriotic. But here they only have Finland stuff if they are in the hockey finals. Because that's a big deal. All I want is some stickers, but it has turned into this huge quest.

  1. Actually, "naisten päivä" is Women's day and "äitien päivä", which means Mother's day is on the first Sunday of May.
